The scammer tricks people by telling them there’s a banking security issue, offering to fix a fake problem with their software, offering an investment opportunity (into cyptocurrency) or pretending to help recover assets. They say people have been contacted by the scammer and been tricked into giving them remote access over their desktops. Toronto police are putting out an alert as an ongoing scam appears to be taking over people’s computers. ![]()
